About Origin Scotland

[View Company Information]Methods
We believe that to reach out to people (both Christians and not) in the 21st Century you have to employ 21st Century methods. The same message, but a different delivery system. We use events both small and large, all with a high standard of production to encourage people to bring friends along to hear the greatest story in the world through some of the coolest music in town. Where possible, we work together with local churches to achieve this goal, preferring not to engage in work where a similar programme is already in existance, but rather through innovation and a strong vision, to carry out our mission where such benefits are not already felt.

Orchestra and Choir, December 2003, Edinburgh The Band, Cape Town 2003

Groups
Choir
Our largest group, up to 120 members at a time drawn from about 35 churches, although regular attendance is around 70 per event. No auditions are required for this group which specilises in Gospel music, from blues to southern, rock to traditional. The group performs two to three times per year, and usually rehearses from October to March.
Band
About six members consisting of the basic elements of bands - guitars, keys, percussion - this extremely versatile group takes part in pretty much everything we do, so have to adapt to many styles of music.
Orchestra
Drawn from music schools, colleges, teaching profession and students, our orchestra consists of a pool of around 250 musicians from which we draw volunteers for events. Members travel from all over the country, and all play as volunteers. Rehearsals are almost always limited to 'on the day' - so an extremely high standard is required to take part.
Singers
The only singing group you have to audition for, the Singers most often present the Praise Night and City Praise events, meeting to rehearse just a week before each event. Members need to be able to improvise, and generally manage themselves in the chorale!
String Quartet
Four players, four churches. This group plays most frequently at Praise Nights, although they have been known to perform at weddings and special events as well.
