Origin Christmas Special

Artistic Director: Colin Peckham
Colin founded Origin in 1997. He studied music at Edinburgh University and theology with the University of South Africa. He served as a music advisor and worship leader for the III Lausanne Congress on World Evangelisation and has directed many orchestras including the All Souls Orchestra and the Cape Town Philharmonic. He is the director of the Cape Town Gospel Choir. He's never happier than when he is writing orchestrations of congregational songs to lift and inspire. He is a missionary with Artists in Christian Testimony Intl, married to Norma with a son.

Choir Director: Jamie Lang
Jamie is a piano teacher and accompanist at an Edinburgh school, and is music director at Musselburgh Baptist Church. He joined the Origin leadership team in 2020.

Band Leader: David Biddulph
Dave leads the band from the bass guitar and has served as Origin's band director and manager since 2002. His day job is as the centre manager for Bethany Christian Trust.

Soloist: Unoma Okudo
Unoma was born and brought up in Lagos Nigeria, she moved to Glasgow in 2002 to go to university. She is married to Dade Thomas, a regular drummer with the Origin band. Unoma grew up going to church with her family and knew Jesus from a young age, her walk with him really deepened during her university years. Unoma sang with Origin in our Christmas event in Glasgow in 2019 and performed her own music in two of our online songwriter sessions, which are still available on YouTube. She has also performed as the opening act for artists including Macy Gray and Alexander O'Neal and has provided backing vocals to music icons such as Donnie McLean and Kylie Minogue and sang at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as well as releasing her own EP Odyssey in 2016.

Soloist: Jonny Russell
Jonny Russell is a long-time friend of Origin having performed with us on many, many occasions since 2004 and is one of the regular soloists in our Foot Stomping Gospel Band. He lives in Tranent, East Lothian and is married with three kids. Jonny became a Christian at a young age and despite a period of wandering and wanting a wee taste of what the world had to offer he always felt that right from wrong voice inside drawing him back to Jesus. He has been singing all his life. Growing up in a church environment it was hard not to be involved in singing. He started performing in church events at first. Going to Holland a few times to sing in a musical a guy from his church wrote. He also appeared twice on National TV, sang for a bit in a sixties band then joined the Edinburgh Acting School where he performed in several Edinburgh Festival shows and Pantos, twice as the Dame.

Speaker: Rev Kenny Robertson
Kenny lives in St Andrews with his wife Anna and three children, where they are part of a church called Cornerstone. Kenny is a stay-at-home dad, and also spends his time helping Christian students share the good news of Jesus with their friends and university campuses.

Scripture Reader: Heather Holdsworth
Heather has a keen interest in how people work and, following a 2 year diploma in Practical Theology, completed a MA in Spiritual Formation in Moody Theological Seminary, Chicago in 2010. Heather works as an itinerant teacher in Bible colleges and is an artist. She lives in St Andrews with her husband, Adrian.
