How Origin Scotland (“we”) use your information

Your privacy is important to us. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of your information. Once we have received your information we will use strict procedures and security features to try and prevent unauthorised access.

We will collect and handle your personal information either with your consent or, particularly in case of members, because it is necessary for us to do so for the purposes of our legitimate interests outlined below.

The use we make of your information will include the following:

  • to tell you about events we are running that may be of interest to you
  • to keep members updated on matters relating to Origin Scotland
  • to help us organise events and to communicate with you
  • to administer donations and, where mandated, to reclaim tax from HMRC

The categories of information that we may collect, hold and share include:

  • personal information (such as name, telephone number, address and email address)
  • your participation in group for service within the organisation (choir, orchestra, band, executive committee etc)
  • your instructions regarding donations to the organisation

Storing your data

We hold your data for varying lengths of time depending on the type of information in question but in doing so we always comply with Data Protection legislation. We will contact you regularly to check that the information we are holding is accurate and that you agree to us holding it.

Who do we share your information with?

We will not share your information with third parties without your consent unless the law requires us to do so. Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with other members of the organisation for purposes connected with the organisation.

Requesting access to your personal data

  • ask us not to process your personal data for the purposes of informing you of events and other opportunities
  • object to processing of personal data that is likely to cause, or is causing, damage or distress

  • in certain circumstances, have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed; and
  • claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the Data Protection regulations.
