About us

The Origin Team

These are the people that make up the Origin Scotland team. In addition to these, we have an oversight committee who's only role is to keep tabs on the leaders of the ministry and our decisions. They are made up of ministers and Christian leaders from Edinburgh.

	Rev Sam Torrens Non-executive Director, Chairman of the Board Rev Torrens is the minister of Barclay Viewforth Church of Scotland in Edinburgh, and was appointed to the board of Origin in 2009.
	Fraser McLaren Non-executive Director Fraser is managing director of Room 3 Records and an experienced event promotor and sound engineer. As such he brings valuable insight and wisdom to the leadership team. He worships at Bruntsfield Evangelical Church, is married to Lynn and has two boys.
	Colin Peckham Managing Director/Artistic Director Colin founded Origin in 1997 while working as Director of Music at Carrubbers Christian Centre in Edinburgh. He studied music at Edinburgh University and theology with the University of South Africa, has a freelance job as a website developer, worships at St James Church of England in Kenilworth, South Africa, is married to Norma and has a young son, Andrew. Colin serves on both the Origin Scotland and Origin South Africa leadership teams.
	Alistair Dewar Director/Music Department Manager Alistair studied medicine at Edinburgh, is a doctor training in Emergency Medicine and has been involved with Origin since 2003, starting out in the choir. He sings with The Exile Band, heads up the music team, is married to Sara and has a young son, Daniel. He recently took up the post of music director at St Stephen's Comely Bank church in Edinburgh. Alistair serves on both Scottish and South African leadership teams.
	Alistair McLeod Treasurer Alistair works in IT support for the NHS in Edinburgh. He has been inolved in Origin first as a member of the technical events staff and later as finance director. He worships at Charlotte Chapel, is married to Louise and has a young son, Caleb.
	David Biddulph Band Manager Dave has played bass guitar for The Exile Band for a number of years, brings considerable talent and natural arranging ability to the band and assists with programme creation. He worships at Abbeyhill Baptist Church, is married to Wendy and has a young daughter, Keira.
	Norma Peckham Publicity Manager Norma joined the choir in 1999 and was elected choir rep to exec, where she stayed taking on several roles ending up with publicity. She is a qualified physiotherapist, but now works full time for Origin in research and data entry, along with her publicity role. She worships at St James Church of England in Kenilworth, South Africa. She is married to Colin and has a young son, Andrew. Norma serves on both Scottish and South African leadership teams.
	Audra Odom Mailshot Co-ordinator Audra is a high school teacher in Edinburgh, teaching history and modern studies and has sung in The Exile Choir and the Origin Praise Choir for a number of years. She worships at St Columba's Free Church of Scotland. Audra also bakes brownies and stuff that keep the exec and many of our teams working at optimal efficiency, or at least on prolonged sugar highs... Audra is everyone's favourite. :-)
	Jonny Russell Exec member Jonny has been a soloist for The Exile Choir, The Exile Band and the Origin Praise Choir for a number of years, and brings energy and enthusiasm not only to the stage when he performs but also to the leadership team. He works in technical support for BT, worships at Tranent Christian Fellowship, is married to Gillian and has three children, Christopher, Sarah and Abigail.
	Nick Renwick Front of House Manager Nick joined the Origin Scotland Exec in 2011. He worships at Carrubbers Christian Centre in Edinburgh.
	Simon Milligan Church Rep Coordinator Simon joined the Origin Scotland Exec in 2011. He worships at Community Church Edinburgh. Simon cares.
	Rebecca Hardie Choirmaster Rebecca studied music at Edinburgh University and is a talented singer-songwriter. She wrote a number of the tracks on the Exile Band album un|broken, and is assistant Director of Music for Origin in charge of choirs. She is married to James and has young son, Oliver.
	Sara Dewar Choir Manager Sara works for Lloyds Banking Group, and runs a custom jewelry design business in her free time. She worships at St Stephen's Comely Bank church, is married to Alistair and has a young son, Daniel.
	Marc Jones Graphic Designer Marc founded Origin Creative Media to assist churches and Christian organisations in better graphic design. He is also responsible for Origin's in-house design. He worships at Hollyrood Abbey Church of Scotland.
	Carrie Haddow Hospitality Carrie spent some time serving on exec before deciding to focus on the job of keeping us all fed on event days, which she does ably with assistance from her catering team. Carrie is therefore always greeted with great joy! Carrie is married to Andrew and has two boys, Stuart and Cameron.
	David Wright Tech David is often to be found with a pile of cables strewn about him and crawling under floors in the Usher Hall to put in cables for our larger events. David grew up on Tyneside, before Uni in Edinburgh & Glasgow. he has been involved in serving Origin on the tech crew of Room3 since 2003, and the staff of Origin since 2007. David is a junior Doctor in Glasgow and attends Bruntsfield Evangelical Church in Edinburgh.

While these are the members of the leadership team, there are many others that serve as volunteers in publicity distribution, technical teams, front of house staff and so on, quite apart from all the musicians and singers. We are extremely grateful to all who make up the various teams that keep things going - you know who you are!
